| I thought that I was ready, both mentally and emotionally. Turns out that I was wrong. I really think that, no matter how prepared you think you are, there are fears and issues that can't be completely faced until you get "The Call". That false alarm allowed me to confront those things, at least to a large degree, and when the real thing happened, it was much easier to deal with as a result. When your call came, you reacted with wholly understandable fear (any rational person is gonna have a certain amount of fear at a situation like you were faced with), but the reality is that you dealt with that fear, and reacted in such a way as to get yourself to the hospital for your transplant. You did your part, and you did it well. When the real call comes, you _know_ you'll be able to deal with it. That's valuable knowledge to have, I think, and in fact, you were far from useless. You did what you had to do, despite your panic attack. That's doing just fine, in my book. | ||
